Gill Laverick - 'Words from the North'

Gill’s debut anthology is a poignant and moving collection of poetry, prose and script-writing that encapsulates her versatility as writer.  Although her verse is rooted in her native landscape, an invigorating warmth always shines through, addressing a much wider audience.

Gill Laverick: bio

‘I live in Sunderland in the North East of England with my husband Tony and my two children, Peter and Jayne. I trained as a stage manager at the Guildford School of Acting in Surrey from 1978-1980 and then worked in the professional theatre for six years as both an actress and stage manager.

After my marriage I worked as a lecturer in Drama at New College, Durham (and for a while at Frankland Prison) and more recently taught young adults with Autism. Currently self-employed I offer a range of services to creative individuals and organisations in the North East, from administration to workshop support, project management and evaluation. Clients include the Sunderland-based Infinite Arts, Sunderland BME Network, Sunderland Bangladeshi Community Centre and Reeform Dance CIC.

I am currently setting up a community interest company called SIDE CIC. I recently took part in the installation "Double Agent - Instant Narrative" at The Baltic. I am also writing Murder Mystery Scripts for a Random Theatre Company based in  NorthYorkshire’.
